Misty is a dynamic clinical leader with many facets; she has a strong combination of business and 19 years of dental hygiene experience. Currently, Misty is the Chief of Dental Hygiene Operations for Sage Dental in Florida and Georgia. Misty is the past President of the Georgia Dental Hygienist Association and past delegate for the American Dental Hygiene Association. Misty helped expand access to care for the less served and educated thousands of children on oral health. She was a pioneer who helped with legislative efforts to increase access to care, making Georgia the 47th state to work under general supervision and the 40th direct access state. Misty served as VP of the Board of Dentistry in Georgia, being the 1st hygienist to hold the position. She was chair of the anesthesia committee that helped make Georgia the 48th state to allow hygienists to do local anesthesia, and currently working on lasers in several states. Her commitment to patient care and the profession is astounding, and her leadership has touched numerous organizations. She is the 2023 Women in DSO – Clinical Leadership recipient; this is the 1st time a hygienist has received such a high honor, and in 2023 and 2024, Misty was recognized for her efforts to improve dentistry with various awards. Misty is currently working on several international projects to improve the overall health of populations through artificial intelligence, medical and dental integration and she also hosts a podcast Hygiene Happy Hour. Misty is a speaker who you will not want to miss, as she makes learning fun and her energy is infectious!
