Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Apply evidence-based teaching methodologies to deliver complex pharmacology concepts in an engaging way.
- Demonstrate three active learning strategies that reinforce pharmacology knowledge for dental hygiene students.
- Design breakout activities that connect pharmacologic concepts to patient care and clinical application.
- Incorporate case-based, team-based, and visual learning methods to improve student comprehension and retention.
- Evaluate how student engagement strategies align with course outcomes and CODA standards.
This 2-hour workshop equips dental hygiene educators with innovative, hands-on strategies for teaching pharmacology in ways that engage students, improve retention, and connect content to clinical practice. Participants will explore and apply evidence-based educational methodologies, experience three active breakout sessions, and leave with ready-to-use activities adaptable to their own classrooms.
