Learning Objectives: 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply evidence-based teaching methodologies to deliver complex pharmacology concepts in an engaging way.
  2. Demonstrate three active learning strategies that reinforce pharmacology knowledge for dental hygiene students.
  3. Design breakout activities that connect pharmacologic concepts to patient care and clinical application.
  4. Incorporate case-based, team-based, and visual learning methods to improve student comprehension and retention.
  5. Evaluate how student engagement strategies align with course outcomes and CODA standards.

This 2-hour workshop equips dental hygiene educators with innovative, hands-on strategies for teaching pharmacology in ways that engage students, improve retention, and connect content to clinical practice. Participants will explore and apply evidence-based educational methodologies, experience three active breakout sessions, and leave with ready-to-use activities adaptable to their own classrooms.
