Learning Objectives: 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define faculty calibration and explain its importance in maintaining program integrity and meeting CODA standards.
  2. Identify challenges related to inconsistency in teaching, clinical assessment, and grading among faculty members.
  3. Apply calibration strategies to create shared expectations for clinical performance, grading rubrics, and professional behavior standards.
  4. Develop a plan for documenting ongoing calibration activities that promote faculty development, consistency, and student success.

Faculty calibration is an essential process in dental hygiene education to ensure consistent instruction, assessment, and student evaluation across all faculty members. This course will provide dental hygiene educators with strategies to align teaching methods, grading practices, and clinical evaluations. Through discussion and interactive activities, participants will gain practical tools to strengthen consistency and reliability in the classroom and clinic!
