  • Create a personal “be kind to your spin” strategic plan

The spine is not a straight stick. This engineering marvel provides support and balance for the human torso. The human spine is an amazing complex of muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and nerves and runs from the base of the skull to the tail bone.  The spine is a flexible chain of bones with four distinct curves. It supports the entire weight, and every movement, of the human head. Modern lifestyles and unintentional clinical habits can dramatically increase the risk for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Chronic pain and injuries can fan the flames of burnout. Recent advancements in magnification, lighting, seating options encourage and support healthy spinal postures, but everyone is different, so a one-size-fits-all strategy is not the answer. Every dental health care provider will benefit from the “be kind to your spine” strategies discussed in this course.
