Current scientific information, patient communication, as well as hands-on experience with an innovative device focusing on protective hand and postural ergonomics for musculoskeletal wellness will be covered.   2 CE Credits.  Commercial Support by:  Discus Dental

Small Group Lecture:  Oh Baby!  The Essential ABC's of Infant and Preschool Patient Care for Every Practice
Linda Blackiston, RDH, BS
Establishing a lifetime of good oral health begins in the womb.  The U.S. Surgeon General stated that dental caries in our pediatric population is one of the most serious health concerns in this country.  Early prevention and intervention are the keys to ending this “silent epidemic”.  Join fellow clinicians to discuss the components of establishing a “dental home” by the child’s first birthday and break down the barriers of treating young patients.  Learn the importance of a pediatric dental risk assessment and new strategies to utilize that assessment. Examine the latest information on fluoride treatments for the preschool child and the most current data on xylitol as a preventive agent. Today, not only parents but extended families are involved in raising children.   Be a part of the solution and find out how every practice can play a part in ending this “silent epidemic”.  2 CE Credits.  Commercial Support by:  Philips Sonicare.

Small Group Lecture:  Brushing with the “Stars”
Pat Pine, RDH
We live in a fast paced high tech world; customized personal care is expected by many of our patients. Toothbrushes are becoming very progressive.  Power brushes have many features to enhance home self care after periodontal therapy, implants, and bridges or for routine maintenance of health.  Power brushes destroy the bacteria causing oral disease that affects the entire human body. Features like timers, quadrant pacers, UV sanitizers, special attachments and more options are available making the choices very confusing. How does a patient determine what power brush is best for their needs and wants? How do you, as their oral health care professional, determine what recommendation to make?  Can a power-brush control biofilm? This hands-on/interactive course is designed to recognize the differences between a plethora of power brushes.  2 CE Credits.  Commercial Support by:  Zila Pharmaceuticals
