Description

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the benefits and limitations of antimicrobials with oxidative and oxygenating reactions for biofilm management.
  • Recognize patient candidates who can benefit from Rx Tray therapy and the appropriate tray treatment protocol.
  • Compare patient results with a simple number that helps patients understand the importance of treatment.

Treating periodontal disease not only improves oral health, it also reduces a chronic infectious burden on patients’ immune system. Unfortunately, it is underdiagnosed and also difficult to treat successfully. 47% of American adults over 30 have periodontitis. The disease rate climbs to 70% for those 65 years and older.  Antibiotics have been prescribed for decades and still the incidence of disease is high. You can treat gingival infections with long-term success using adjunctive prescription tray delivery of hydrogen peroxide gel deep into periodontal pockets. Research shows that this delivery combined with SRP leads to more significant pocket depth and bleeding reductions than SRP alone (www.perioprotect.com/claims).  Attend this presentation to learn the science behind the delivery, case presentation ideas, and everyday business calculations. The second half of the workshop will involve small group treatment planning and case presentation practice.
